Giants’ Evan Engram Thriving in First NFL Season

The Giants have had a disappointing first six weeks of the 2017 NFL season, but there have been a few bright spots. The team’s rookie tight end, Evan Engram, has frequently displayed the speed that led the Giants to select him with the 23rd overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Prior to the start of Week 7, Engram ran more pass routes than any other tight end, ranked fifth in total yards, and tied for sixth in catches among all tight ends.
After being held without a catch in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Engram recorded a season-high 82 receiving yards on five catches in a 23–10 victory over the Denver Broncos. He also scored his second career touchdown. Engram’s role with the team is expected to grow in the coming weeks because of long-term injuries to receivers Brandon Marshall and Odell Beckham Jr.
