In addition to RLB Squared, Geoff Block is the founder of the Lowcountry Strong Foundation, a nonprofit group partnered with the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry.
The current focus of the Lowcountry Strong Foundation is to assist families living in Beaufort and Jasper Counties who are struggling with the impact of 2016’s Hurricane Matthew. The natural disaster primarily affected the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, causing an estimated $4 billion to $6 billion in damage.
Through Lowcountry Strong, eligible families can procure food, medical help, and home repair and rebuilding services. To be considered for grant assistance in these areas, a family must be full-time residents of one of the two counties, must have a combined annual income of $85,000 or less, and must be dealing with critical damage to a primary home that reduces quality of life and/or the ultimate worth of the property. Potential aid recipients must fill out an application accessible through the nonprofit’s website at www.lowcountrystrong.com.
