New York Knicks Make Coaching Change

The recipient of a bachelor’s degree in business from Tulane University, Geoffrey “Geoff” J. Block draws upon more than 25 years of asset management experience in his role as manager of the holding company RLB Squared, LLC. Outside of his professional endeavors, Geoff Block is a fan of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) New York Knicks.
The Knicks have missed the playoffs in each of the past six seasons and struggled early in the 2019–20 season with a win-loss record of 4–18. As a result, the team’s head coach, David Fizdale, was fired on December 6. New York’s woes included an eight-game losing streak, while it had lost its final two games in Fizdale’s tenure by a combined 81 points. Fizdale was hired before the 2018–19 season and the Knicks finished that year with a disappointing 17–65 record. He leaves the organization with the lowest winning percentage in franchise history at .202.
In a corresponding move, the Knicks announced Fizdale’s assistant coach Mike Miller would take over the head coach role on an interim basis. Keith Bogans, who coached with the Knicks’ G-League affiliate, was promoted to fill Miller’s former role. Miller is a former G-League Coach of the Year with the Westchester Knicks and has also worked with the San Antonio Spurs’ G-League affiliate. He has more than three decades of coaching experience, which includes head coach roles at Eastern Illinois University and Texas State University.
